HERE IS THE LIST OF BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ
1) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
A true classic cherished by it's readers, Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist is a fable of a poor Andalusian shepherd boy who sets off on a journey to find the world's greatest treasures. Of course, what he finds is so much more — fear, suffering, truth, inspiration, strength, wisdom, and so much more. An enlightening and charming story about accepting yourself and following your dreams, The Alchemist will help you overcome your fears and find some peace of mind.
2) The Five People you Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.
For me at least, one of the biggest obstacles between a my chaotic mind and achieving inner peace is a long line of regrets I can't help but harp on. However, one book that always helps me regain perspective: Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet In Heaven. Eddie, an 83-year-old grump, dies in a tragic accident and is forced to relive parts of his life, some tragic, some terrifying, some wonderful, but almost all painful. Despite all his own regret and guilt, Eddie is able to find redemption in the end, and his journey inspires readers (myself included) to forgive themselves and let themselves find a bit of peace at the same time. You can also read this "FOR MORE ONE DAY" which is also fabulous.
3) The Book of Secrets: Unlocking The Hidden Dimensions of Your Life by Deepak Chopra.
Through The Book of Secret, spiritual guru Deepak Chopra assures you that “find the hiding dimensions in yourself is the only way to fulfil your deepest hunger” and shares 15 secrets to help you find inner peace and much more. He distils a lifetime of insights and wisdom to provide a new tool for achieving a personal breakthrough. In this book, he explores how death makes life possible, the importance of transcending your egocentric self and how evil is not your enemy.
4) Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
Basically 'Siddhartha' is word from Sanskrit an Indian language which means "siddha- achieve and artha- what was searched for". If you try to understand this word it has beautiful and lot deep meaning in its own. Not all of us are born knowing what we want out of life, or how to get it, and Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha captures the anxiety, fear, and confusion that go along with the unknown. The book's ultimate teaching for readers is that the path to happiness and peace is one they must discover on their own, in their own time.
5) The Pearl by John Steinbeck
A tragic parable about greed, darkness, and evil, John Steinbeck's classic novella The Pearl might cause some tears, but it's a worthwhile price to pay for some tranquility of the mind. Simple yet heartbreaking, The Pearl will put your fears and desires about materialism to rest and prove that love and family count for so much more —because as long as you have those things, you really do have it all.
6) Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life's Most important Skill by Matthieu Ricard
In this book, Matthieu Ricard, a French scientist turned Buddhist monk, explains how happiness is not just an emotion but a skill that can be developed. He breaks down 25 centuries worth of Buddhist tradition and draws from fiction and poetry, Western philosophy as well as scientific research. He not only makes a case for dedicating energy towards being happy but also provides simple exercises that will train the mind to concentrate on the important things in life. You will learn that inner peace and happiness comes from within and is not reliant on external circumstances.
7) The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
If traditional self-help books are not your cup of tea, you’ll enjoy Mark Manson’s irreverent take on what you need to find inner peace. In The Subtle Art, Manson argues that we have a limited number of ‘fucks’ to give in our lives and what we concentrate on determines our happiness. He believes the traditional concept of positivity will never lead to happiness or success and instead suggests that we need to accept our flaws and limitations in order to improve our lives. We need to choose the parameters by which we judge ourselves carefully as, if the parameters themselves are flawed, finding inner peace will not be possible. With real-life examples, personal anecdotes and his trademark humour, Manson will provide you with a completely fresh take on how to achieve inner peace.
8) When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice For Difficult Times by Pema Chodron.

While we are always on the lookout for inner peace, it is in the most painful circumstances that we need it the most. In when Things fall Apart, famed spiritual teacher, Pema Chodron shows us how there is potential for happiness even in the direst of circumstances. She explains how to use pain to develop wisdom, compassion and courage, openness in communication and how to reverse our negative patterns. This book will comfort you and give you a reason to rise above your pain and happiness.
9) The Wisdom of Insecurity by Alan Watts.
In The Wisdom of Insecurity, Alan Watts combines both Eastern philosophy and Western religion to explore man’s quest for psychological security. He believes that we live in a near-constant state of dissatisfaction and anxiety, and crave security which is both impossible and undesirable. He postulates that our insecurity is a result of us striving to be secure and that we should live fully in the present moment and recognise that we have no way of saving ourselves. According to Watts, the road to inner peace lies in embracing the present instead of anticipating the future or lamenting the past.
10) The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown.
Self- worth is one of the cornerstones of inner peace. If we don't accept and love ourselves, imperfections and all, it is nearly impossible to be truly happy. In the gifts of Imperfection, famed sociologist Brene Brown explores the importance of overcoming paralysing fear and self-consciousness. She provides ten guideposts on how to be true to ourselves and embrace our flaws to live a perfectly 'imperfect' life. This is way more than self help book, as Brown's insights are based on a decade's worth of rigorous research.
