If you are a Medicine Student or you going to be medicine student, then you should definitely read this books. 1) WHEN BREATH BECOMES AIR by PAUL KALANITHI

The writer of this book Paul Kalanithi was Neurosurgeon who got diagnosed with the metastatic lung cancer at the age of 36, when he was completing his medical training. He died at the age of 37 while still writing his book. 

What comes out of this is incompatible feeling of this incredible life we have and and relationship between doctor and patient. 

If you are a medicine student (aspiring doctor) or considering studying medicine then you should definitely read this out. 




2) THE INTERN BLUES by ROBERT MARION 

In this book the three interns talk about their experiences through their internship, where they deal with hundred hour long internship throughout the week, having very less time to rest or sleep as an intern. The responsibility of life and death given to this interns will amaze you. 

As you'll think lot about this let me clear yo that this book was written in 1985 after almost 35 years, many rules have been implemented on the working hours of interns. 

But still this book will relate you to your experience during your internship. The emotions, feelings and work is still very relevant today. 



3) UNATURAL CAUSES by Dr. RICHARD SHEPHARD.

The writer of this book Dr. RICHARD SHEPHARD is a forensic pathologist, the one who solves the unexplained deaths. As the title book give you idea what the book is about.

4) THE MAN WHO MISTOOK HIS WIFE FOR A HAT by OLIVER SACKS.

Many of you have heard the name of this book, it was a million-copy bestseller. The writer of this book was neurologist, who write books based on his patients he treated during his career. The book will tell you the mysteries of human mind that will amaze you.

This book has 24 essays that will tell you different aspect of brain function. Each will tell you about the different case, these cases are the reason this book became popular and medical student will enjoy this book as it shows the fascinating link between medicine and physiology. 



5) STIFF: THE CURIOUS LIVES OF HUMAN CADAVERS by MARY ROACH 

Stiff is really interesting book, it tells us about the postmortem and what happens when you donate your organs to science. 

Its the book that gives you very well insight into human bodies and what happens to them after the death. It's every thing you never knew you wanted to know about death bodies. 

This is the very book you should read as a medicine student. 



6) BETTER by ATUL GAWANDE 

Atul Gawande is an American surgeon and a writer. He wrote many influential books like Complications, Being Mortal and Checklist Manifesto.
Better details on value of effort when the surgery is being performed. In this book he explains how doctors strive to close the gap between best intentions and best performance in the face of obstacles that sometimes seem impossible. 
This is the book you should definitely read and of course all of his books, it will get more interesting by time. 


7) THE HOUSE OF GOD by SAMUEL SHEM.

The only fictional book on this list, this is written by the psychiatrist in the 1970s follows a group of medical interns called 'The house of god' 

The book will give you an idea about what life is after graduation of a medicine student. If you are looking for entertaining novel then this is the one which will also you an idea about the hectic life of an intern. 



8) IN STITCHES by ANTHONY YOUN. 

The writer of this book Dr. Anthony Youn is Plastic Surgeon, writer and television personality. An Asian-American kid with thick glasses and a massive protruding jaw, stuck out of his classmates. Having this Dr. Youn becomes an extremely successful celebrity plastic surgeon. 

In this book he explains how he achieved this all, this will take you through his life on the way to becoming the physician he is today.
